Pasta with Tomato Sauce (Takes about 20 minutes)
Weigh out about 75/100 grams (3 to 4 ounces) of pasta per adult and 25/50 grams (1 to 2 ounces) of pasta per child, depending on how big your appetites are.
1 jar of home-made tomato sauce
2 teaspoons of butter
100 grams of strong flavoured grated cheese (if you like the stuff. webmaster)
Fill your largest pot with about one litre of water for every 100 grams of pasta - its quicker to boil the water in the kettle first.
Put the pot on your hob and bring it to the boil with half a teaspoon of salt then add all the pasta.
Check the packaging to see how many minutes to cook it for, anything from 8 to 14 minutes - it depends on the thickness.
Keep stirring the pasta with a wooden spoon so it doesn’t stick together. You can make a salad while the pasta is cooking if you can do two things at once!
When the pasta is cooked (you may prefer is soft or harder – ‘al dente’ ) turn down the hob and drain the pasta in a colander/sieve in the sink.
Drop 2 teaspoons of butter in the bottom of the warm pasta pot and add the tomato sauce then put it back on the hob to warm through and pour in the pasta and cheese and mix it all together. Serve it immediately with salads.
