Store Cupboard
It’s a good idea to have some of these things in your cupboard for emergency meals, make sure that they are used within the date or you will have to throw them away and waste money:

  • Tins of tomatoes
  • Packets of kidney beans, chick peas and lentils etc (these have to be soaked overnight and boiled for quite a long time but are much cheaper than the tins) or
  • Tins of Kidney beans, chick peas and lentils etc. these are great for emergencies as they can be heated and eaten straight away.
  • Tins baked beans
  • Pasta
  • Rice (brown is healthier but takes a bit longer to cook)
  • Plain Flour
  • Strong Bread Flour
  • Dried Yeast
  • Tins tuna, sardines, salmon etc.
  • Olive Oil or other oil
  • Large potatoes
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Lemons
  • Ginger
  • Dried oregano, rosemary, sage, by leaves etc.
  • Chillies, nutmeg, garam masala, tumeric, salt and pepper, Vegetable stock cubes

You can buy all of these in either the TFC in Leytonstone High Road or at Tesco's.  Its better to have a look around and see whats on offer in the shops before deciding what to cook and try to plan two or three days together you could save time and money.
