Jobcentre Plus is a part of the Department for Work and Pensions.
They aim to:
- help more people into paid work
- help employers fill their vacancies, and
- give people of working age the help and support they are entitled to if they cannot work.

Lone / Single Parent Assistance
There are a number of ways Jobcentre Plus can help you when you start work.
If you're bringing up children on your own and you start work, from 7 April 2008 we could give you £60 a week on top of your salary, tax free for up to a year. It is called an In Work Credit Payment. You're entitled to this as long as:
- You work for over 16 hours a week
- The job you take lasts for over 5 weeks
- You've been claiming benefits for at least 12 months
